March 9th will be the FREE state-wide Junior ACT for students.
Eminence does not sign a student up for a National ACT test date. Students/Guardians are required to sign the student up via the ACT website. The only ACT that a student is not required to sign up for is the state-wide Junior* year ACT in March, as it is a state provided assessment.
*The state has updated the ACT state-wide test information to NOT include Sophomores and we will solely be testing Juniors for the March State provided ACT, during school hours.

Don’t bring these into the test room; you can’t use them!
- Bring a printed copy of your ticket to the test center. If you have lost your ticket, you can print another through your ACT web account. If you do not bring your ticket, your scores will be delayed.
- Bring acceptable photo identification. You will not be admitted to test if your ID does not meet ACT requirements.
- Bring sharpened, soft lead No. 2 pencils with good erasers (no mechanical pencils or ink pens). Do not bring any other writing instruments; you will not be allowed to use them. If you are registered for the ACT with writing, your essay must also be completed in pencil.
- Bring a watch to pace yourself, but do not bring a watch with an alarm. If your alarm sounds during testing, you’ll be dismissed and your answers will not be scored. No watch? No problem. The supervisor in standard time rooms will announce when you have five minutes remaining on each test.
- Bring a permitted calculator to be used on the mathematics test only. It is your responsibility to know whether your calculator is permitted. Please refer to the ACT Calculator Policy (PDF). To make it even easier to figure out, you are not required to use a calculator at all.

FAQ's about the ACT:
When should my student start taking the ACT?
When should my student start taking the ACT?
- I recommend that students take the ACT prior to the free ACT in March of their junior year. This allows them to become familiar with the assessment and helps to eliminate any unrealistic thinking.
- There is no set amount of times that a student should take the ACT. However, I recommend that a student take it at least twice, three times if possible. Taking the ACT allows students to become familiar with the set up and expectations for the assessment. The ACT is assessing both a students’ knowledge and test taking ability. You can register online at https://services.actstudent.org/OA_HTML/actibeCAcdLogin.jsp
- The ACT cost $55.00. If you are a student who is on Free or Reduced lunch you are allotted 4 test fee waivers to use during you junior and/or senior year. Come see your counselor for the waiver.
- Late registration will add $30 to the cost. You can use the ACT fee waiver (offered to Free/Reduced lunch students) to cover the initial $55.00 cost and you would only have to pay $30 for late fee.
- Having your students pick up an ACT prep booklet from the office is one way to help. This booklet has previous test questions and is set up in the exact way of the ACT. It aligns sections with the exact amount of questions as well as provides the exact time limit for each section. There is a bubble sheet located in the back to provide students with that test-taking reality. Also, answers for review are located in the booklet. Resources can also be found at http://www.actstudent.org/testprep/. Also please see some 'FREE' ACT prep options below, provide by the Louisville Free Public Library.
